about

spukhafte Fernwirkung was commissioned from FURT by he SWR for the 2012 Donaueschingen Festival, rehearsed and performed by the fORCH ensemble and recorded live by SWR2. It was paired in performance by the FURT duo piece Hmyz, which was also prepared specially for this occasion (though the version of Hmyz on this CD was recorded in the studio the day before). This release is dedicated to Reinhard Kager.
Our piece for improvisers consists of: a structure based on time-proportions, which evolves from juxtaposed duos through overlapping trios to alternating quartets; processed sound-materials from recordings made during the rehearsal period; suggestions for organising relationships between "solo" and "accompaniment, plus, of course, the compositional input of everyone in the group, through the piece's further evolution in the course of five days of preparation in the SWR studio in Freiburg. It doesn't seek to enclose the musicians and the music within its structure, but to encourage moments of discovery and astonishment, and perhaps to interconnect them, not as a contradiction of improvisatory intuition, but as a counterpoint to it.
